Moving Tips & Tricks
Preparing For Your Move: Tips & Tricks from the professionals
Moving can be stressful. Here are a few ways to ensure your Movemasters packing and moving experience is seamless.
• Make sure loose items are packed either by us, or by you. As a rule, it is recommended that any items small enough to fit into a large box (24 x 18 x 18) should be boxed in advance to ensure the safe and proper handling. This also helps us move more quickly, saving on moving time and fees.
• Keep heavier items such as books, videos, records, and CDs in smaller boxes. All boxes should be full, but not bulging. • Be sure to describe the contents of each box you pack, and include a desired destination for each box. The more accurately your boxes are labeled, the easier it will be to settle into your new home. Don't forget to label fragile moving boxes accordingly.
• Be sure to empty all shelves, desks, and table tops of breakable items. The movers will shrink wrap these items prior to moving them, but it's always better to have breakable items removed in advance.
• Our moving crew will provide tools and will be more than happy to disassemble and reassemble all necessary furniture. However, you are more than welcome to disassemble furniture (beds, desks, cribs, etc.) prior to moving day. This will reduce move time.
• Unhook and disconnect all electronics, and remove all artwork / mirrors from the wall.
• Moving in Denver can be tricky due to traffic. If possible, try to secure an open space (ideally about 3 car lengths) in front of your home to ensure we can put our moving trucks as close to the loading location as possible.
• Please make your moving crew leader aware of any previously damaged items so we can be sure to take the extra steps to move them safely and properly.
• Our movers are not licensed to connect or disconnect gas appliances such as stoves or dryers, nor may they transport highly flammable items such as propane tanks.
• It is advised that you have someone standing near the door of your new home to help direct traffic. Our movers will be moving very quickly, so making yourself accessible to answer questions is essential.
• If you have Ikea furniture or particleboard items, please disassemble them in advance.
• Please contact us in advance if there are any additional items you would like us to handle that weren't mentioned during the original estimate. It is imperative that we can be prepared for any further items to ensure we have the personnel to get your move done in a timely manner.
